My paintings are an extension of my ideas and my imagination. They reflect things that I love, such as the beauty in Nature, rocks and mountains, trees and grasses, water, oceans, lakes and streams, fog, rain, sun, snow…. I am inspired by the different seasons and times of the day. I am interested in people's curiosity and their routines and habits and different activities.

I express my beliefs in spirits and supernatural visions that some people see and believe in, and others deny. Some things can be explained and some can not, but an artist can portray anything she wants, whether real or imaginary, beautiful or ugly, and make people think, talk about it, and communicate.

I start with pouring fluid acrylic paint, one color, sometimes two, and then put plastic on top and let it dry. The next day, I go back to the painting, peel off the plastic, and see what I can see in it. If I like it, I work back into it and make it into something more real, having more shape and design.

Sometimes I paint out portions with opaque. Sometimes I paint opaque over some color, and scrape into that to reveal the colors underneath. It is always an adventure and it is always enjoyable to do. Sometimes it's exciting and sometimes frustrating. I never know how it will turn out until the very end.
Sometimes, I take an old tired painting I don't like much anymore, give it another coat of paint and block out areas, scrape into areas, and turn it into a brand new painting. Having some color underneath gives it a certain richness. Hopefully I am always changing, developing, growing and getting better.
I never want to get to the point that I know exactly what I want and can easily duplicate a certain result. I can pull the plastic in a certain direction or use certain color combination, but I want to continue to be amazed and delighted by the results.
Another thing I love is to try new techniques and tools that can be used in paintings. In one series, I use foil or glitz to brighten festive and decorative works. In another, I use my different scrapers to portray grasses, weeds and branches. Different weights of plastic give me different textures, as well as waxed paper and other kinds of papers. There are always new opportunities to play, and there is no right or wrong.
